Critique of Mass Effect comics Foundation

Critique of Mass Effect comics Foundation
To end the era Shepard, Bioware has partnered again with Dark Horse editor to propose a series of comics centered on several teammates Shepard. These characters are all related in one way or another to Maya Brooks (Rasa), mysterious figure known by players from the DLC Citadel. The series is based on 13 numbers monthly publication, available in digital forms and papers to USA, UK and Germany.
In France, Delcourt, the publisher with rights to the Mass Effect license, has not yet announced a French edition since the last issue appeared in July in the US. This is particularly why we had you recently shared the French translations offered by Geek-A, a French fan. It is these translations (9 of 13 numbers for now) which also allowed us to offer this report on the saga Foundation. This article does not judge the quality of translations of comics. Also note that our criticism necessarily addresses spoils related comics Foundation and DLC Citadel.Covers
Let's start first offered because the comics: the cover. Foundation for the Mass Effect saga, Dark Horse has used a French, Benjamin Carré, to achieve the 13 covers of 13 issues.
The French could have achieved without a fault he had not offered the cover of the latest issue, showing a duel between Kai Leng and Maya Brooks (while the first city is not present in the issue). The face and hair Kai Leng was particularly missed.
After this number, 12 other covers are proving very attractive and accurately represent the physical appearance of the characters. We could even enjoy a comic book based on this way of drawing. The designers, in order of preference

Matthew Clark: Volumes 5 and 6 - (new designer on Mass Effect)

Omar Francia: Volume 1 - used for Mass Effect (homeworlds, Invasion, Evolution, Redemption ...)

Tony Parker: Volumes 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 - (new designer on Mass Effect)

Garry Brown: Volume 7 - (homeworlds, the One-Shot Comics Joker)
The drawings
The proliferation of designers involves a recurring change in appearance of the characters in the saga. This is one of the most confusing points in this series, no character manages to keep the same appearance in each of his appearances through the various episodes. Maya Brooks, is the central character of this series is the first to be "slaughtered" episode to episode.
Its true appearance is observed on the first issue. Subsequent episodes with characters linked together to look assertive pin-up and coating the black uniform of Miranda, putting doubt in the reader's mind, until disguises ridiculing the character during certain sequences.
The other characters are not spared: Ashley and Kaidan, Kai Leng or Man Trouble pass from one appearance to another, or are just unrecognizable. Surprisingly, it is often the alien characters who are best treated: Thane, Wrex or Mordin.
It would have been desirable that the series is supported by a single designer. For this, Matthew Clark was a very good choice! In terms of scenery, different designers have done the job with beautiful representations of Bekenstein, the Citadel or vessels.
We invite you to discover the drawings of comic two angles of approach: successful designs (in our eyes) and the characters whose physical appearance is changing almost every issue (because of the designer change mainly).
